Dani's Report Card

Dani, Discovery Days 1, October 2008
Dani comes to us uncertain if she wants to leave Mom, but we quickly convince her that we are going to have lots of fun! She is easily persuaded to play in the sensory table with the ducks or play with the bubbles! After she settles in, she is usually found in the house area caring for the babies or in the block area playing with the cars. Dani is very compassionate towards the other children in our class. She is quick to offer a back rub if someone is upset. Dani knows her symbol both on the rug and at the table. She is able to follow simple directions which is a positive example for children who are less independent. During music, Dani likes to watch the other children until she is comfortable doing a few motions too! We really enjoy having Dani in our classes. Her bright smile is a wonderful addition to our day!

Kid's Quote of the Day

Pumpkins for Palin

Lana's political commentary: "Mommy, I want McCain to be president!"
Lana wanted Chocolate Milk to drink when going to bed and I told her that it could make her teeth turn brown. She then asked me "Is that why Obama's skin is brown?" Of course, we had a brief discussion of skin color and how it doesn't matter what color skin someone has. To think Lana thought darker skin color was from drinking too much chocolate milk....lol

Picnic in the Park

When Mommy comes home from work...

Lana has started telling on Daddy...
"Daddy watched football ALL DAY!" is the phrase I hear most evenings when getting home from work. Not surprising with the football daddy they have. At least they are occupying themselves.

Parent/Teacher Conference

I had my very first parent/teacher conference today with Lana's preschool teachers. Her reports went great!

Class: Green
Teachers: Mrs. Kupfer, Mrs. Wurtz, Mrs. Willis

Lana usually enters the classroom happily eager to start the day.
Lana handles the routine with occasional reminders.
Lana usually plays with Meghan.
Lana usually chooses the quiet and art areas during work time.
Lana shows strength in staying focused and finishing a project.
We are working on helping her respect other people's space during group times.
Lana handles bathroom needs independently.

Mrs. Wurtz had a conversation with me about how far advanced Lana is. She wasn't surprised to hear that Lana knew her colors when she was 20 months old. Lana can also write all her uppercase letters and is learning lowercase. She can read simple words (i.e. dog, cat, the, and) and has expressed interest in learning how to add single digits.
